Building the Future of Parks and Recreation

  • The City of Urbandale is making significant investments in its parks, public facilities, and community spaces. From new parks and playgrounds to recreation facilities, trails, splash pads, and building improvements, this position plays a key role in delivering projects that will serve the community for years to come
  • As the Parks and Facilities Project Manager, you’ll manage projects from concept through construction, working with architects, engineers, contractors, City staff, and community stakeholders to successfully deliver a wide variety of capital improvement projects. The Road Ahead

What You'll Do

This position is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of facility and park capital improvement projects, including:

  • Managing projects from planning and design through construction and closeout
  • Coordinating architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors
  • Preparing RFQs, RFPs, bid documents, and construction contracts
  • Managing project budgets, schedules, funding, and change orders
  • Conducting construction meetings and field inspections
  • Presenting projects to City Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and community groups
  • Collaborating with departments across the City to deliver successful projects
  • Helping shape future parks, facilities, and recreation improvements

We’re seeking an experienced project manager who enjoys leading complex public projects from beginning to end.

  • The ideal candidate has experience with:
  • Capital improvement projects
  • Construction administration
  • Consultant and contractor management
  • Budget development and project scheduling
  • Public bidding and procurement
  • Municipal or public-sector projects
  • Building collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential.
